Chicken Shed Aston

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

A 1954 Aston Martin was discovered after languishing in a farmers barn for 34 years, the car original taken to cover a bad debt was driven once by the farmer, who after taking some friends to the pub found the car was a little too fast for his liking and so put it in the barn.

The current owner made the purchase in 2007 after the car was discovered and decided to keep the car in as much of the original condition as possible so very little has been done to the paintwork except a little cleaning, however under the bonnet the engine has had a £20000 rebuild and the car gives a serious performance.

The car will come under the hammer on June 2nd the estimated selling price will be in the region of £85000.

World’s most luxurious armoured limo revealed

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

If you’re worried about getting to work safe and sound, the Knight XV is the luxury car for you.

This £325,000 armoured SUV dwarfs a Range Rover and comes with bullet-proof bodywork.

It’s based on a massive Ford F550 pick-up truck, uses a whopping 6.8-litre V10 engine with 400bhp that can be started remotely before reaching the car, and it weighs in at 5.5-tonnes.

The company that builds the Knight XV, Conquest, says it will tailor the armour plating to each customers requirements, but every version comes with bodywork and glass that can withstand gunshots for 24 hours.

All of the door hinges are reinforced to cope with the added weight of the armoured protection and the panel between the engine and passenger compartment is also strengthened to guard against bomb blasts.

The floor of the Knight XV is also bombproof, while fire extinguisher and oxygen breathing systems mean the four-wheel drive SUV limo can keep going even if it’s set alight.

Any buyer still worried about security can order night vision camera, keyless entry, dark-tinted armoured glass, run-flat tyres that keep going even when punctured by bullets and, naturally, an anti-theft alarm.

However, the Knight XV isn’t just about security as it offers six leather-upholstered seats and plush Wilton carpets.

All four rear seats also come with laptop computers and there are twin rear screens to watch DVDs on, or see how the riot is going outside via roof-mounted cameras.

It takes 1,500 hours for Conquest’s craftsmen to build each Knight XV at the company’s Toronto, Canada headquarters and they’ll happily make the armoured limo with right-hand drive for UK customers.

Conquest will also upgrade the engine for buyers if 400bhp isn’t enough and they offer a turbocharger kit that boosts power to 550bhp.

No Change with the Tories

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Recent speculation that the Conservatives plan to change the company car tax regime has been unfounded, according to the BVRLA.

The association’s chief executive, John Lewis, said that its conversations with the Conservative party had ascertained that there are no plans to radically alter the basis on which company cars are taxed.

He said: ‘The BVRLA has been in contact with the Conservative central office and can confirm that the party has no plans to change the current company car tax regime. It appears that Theresa Villiers’ comments about the party’s desire to simplify and streamline the wider business tax system may have been taken out of context.

‘This is good news because the current company car tax regime has been very successful in giving businesses a clear incentive to reduce emissions and the ability to calculate their fleet tax costs some way in advance.

‘After the election we would be happy to work with any government that wishes to simplify and reduce the overall business tax burden. Removing the unjustified diesel supplement would be a good start.’

Pot Hole Fall Out

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

The harsh winter that we have just experienced left behind its mark on our roads in the form of pot holes, anyone that has hit a particularly nasty one should consider having their wheel alignment checked and there are a few garages out there offering special deals on this service, some are even free for the initial check.

Obviously with so many to deal with it will be a slow process getting to them all, in the meantime extra care needs to be taken.
