Scotland could set own speed limits

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Fleets could have to train their drivers to two sets of speed limits and make sure their health and safety code covers two different drink-drive limits, if Scotland takes up proposed new powers under devolution.

Scotland could set different national speed limits and drink-drive limits under proposals from Westminster for devolution. The changes were expected following the Calman Commission’s review of devolution, which Labour promised to respond to the report.

Scottish secretary Jim Murphy is expected to outline which of the reports’ suggestions would be taken up, later today.

NEW FORD MONDEO TITANIUM AVAILABLE WITH ECONETIC TECHNOLOGIES

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Ford is introducing a new high series addition to its Mondeo line-up powered by ECOnetic technologies –

The Mondeo Titanium 2.0 115PS TDCi with 139g/km CO2 emissions.

Targeting company car users increasingly conscious of company car tax costs while not compromising vehicle specification, the model is offered in five-door hatchback or estate form. Both deliver CO2 emissions of 139g/km and a combined fuel economy of figure of 54.3mpg.

While benefitting from Ford ECOnetic environmental features, this new model is otherwise identical to the standard Titanium series. The following features are added to help reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel economy:

• 16in Y-Spoke lightweight alloy wheels (standard)

• 17in Y-spoke alloys (option)

• An optimum gear change indicator

• Aerodynamically optimised sports suspension and air deflectors

• Rear spoiler (five-door only)

The Mondeo Titanium 2.0 115PS TDCi is priced from £23,295.00 for the five-door and £24,545.00 for the estate – just above the equivalent Titanium 2.0 140PS TDCi series.

With Vehicle Excise Duty falling in band E, costing £120 per year, and combined with improved fuel economy, this delivers competitive cost of ownership maximising the appeal to fleets and user-chooser customers.
