New Theory Test

The theory driving test is to be made more a little more difficult to eliminate candidates from simply memorise answers.
Recently the AA have carried out a survey on who has priority at traffic lights and from nearly 12000 answers 23% thought traffic going straight on had right of way, 3% said those turning right and 2% turning left. In fact the correct answer is no one has right of way.
Interestingly the poll did show that 18-24 were new more of the answers averaging 68% correct whilst those over 65 scoring an average of 41%.
Road Safety Minister Mike Penning said “By bringing a stop to publication of theory test questions we aim to encourage candidates to prepare by learning each topic thoroughly rather than just memorising the questions and answers. The intention is to improve candidates’ knowledge and understanding of driving theory, so that they are more able to retain and apply it when they are on the road”.
